Experience

I'm Katie, a private tutor for math, science, and test prep, and I'd love to help you master your classes! ABOUT ME I'm a fun, passionate graduate student studying aerospace engineering at Texas A&M. My first teaching experience was designing a supplemental science curriculum called Rocket Science that taught home educated students about astronomy and engineering. After that I was hooked on teaching! There's nothing I enjoy more than watching a student's face light up when they master a difficult concept, and I celebrate every one of their victories with praise and encouragement so that they always feel confident in their abilities. MATH Whether it's geometry, business math, algebra, trigonometry or calculus, I always enjoy helping people with math. I use pictures, mnemonics, hands-on demonstrations, and other techniques to help math "click" for visual and kinetic learners who may have had trouble in the past. I'd love to show you why you don't have to be an engineer like me to have fun with math! SCIENCE I love helping kids learn something new in any area, but sciences like physics and chemistry are my favorite subjects to teach because I get to share so many cool demonstrations and stories. Whether we're playing with Slinkys while learning about harmonic motion or building model rockets to study Newton's Laws, I'm always having just as much fun as the student is! ENGLISH I received a 5 on the AP English Language and Composition test, the highest score possible, giving me college credit for both English I and English II. In high school I tutored 20 other students in English with a focus on the SAT and ACT essay sections. In college I work as a freelance editor helping friends and companies perfect their writing. Want to improve your writing style? Message me and lets get started! Just want a pro to look over your essay? Send it to me and I'll proofread it for free! TEST PREP Thanks to my PSAT, SAT, and ACT scores, I am now a National Merit Scholar, National Collegiate Scholar, and President's Endowed Scholar - but getting here wasn't easy. I took four different SAT and ACT test prep classes to master as many different strategies as possible. At first I searched for the best test-taking strategy that was some kind of "silver bullet" for the SAT and ACT. After months of study, I realized that there is no single solution. The best strategy depends on your natural talents, the scores you want, and how much time you have to prepare. Together we can find the best strategy for you! My first tutoring session is always free so that you can determine if I would be a good fit. Contact me any time to get started!
